Hold On To Your Faith While Waiting On God

Child of God: DO NOT GIVE UP!

Have you been waiting a long time for what you prayed for to manifest? We all are waiting for God to do something in our lives. Once so much time has passed, you may get weary and want to give up. I want to encourage you today, Child of God: DO NOT GIVE UP! Today, I want to put you in remembrance of some things that will help you to hang on to your faith:

  1. God’s concept of time is WAY different than ours. 2 Peter 3:8 says, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” God is on a different time table than we are because He exists outside of time.

  2. God has a set time for everything. God is not concerned about time, but He is very concerned about TIMING. His timing is perfect because He can see the big picture we can’t see. In Ecclesiastes 3:1 we read, “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” Just because God’s set time has not come yet, does not mean what you desire is not on the way. As Bishop T.D. Jakes once said, “Delay does not mean denial.”

  3. God has a method of operation that we need to accept. God sometimes does a quick work, but if you look at the patterns in the Bible, people usually had to wait a long time for their blessing to manifest. David ran from Saul 12 years after he was anointed by Samuel to be king of Israel. Abraham and Sarah waited 23 years before their son Isaac was born. The people of Israel were enslaved for hundreds of years before God delivered them. Therefore, we need to be realistic about the time we will have to wait and be prepared to wait as long as it takes.

  4. God requires us to have patience. The Apostle Paul says in Hebrews 6:12 (NIV), “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith AND patience inherit what has been promised” (emphasis mine). If we don’t have patience, our faith will fail, and we will throw in the towel way too soon. We have to learn how to wait well.

  5. God’s Word is the only thing in the universe that does not change. What you are going through is temporary. Psalm 34:19 says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them.” That means there is definitely an expiration date on whatever you are experiencing right now.

Beloved, if you have been waiting for your breakthrough, be encouraged today. Hold on to your faith. Keep calling those things that be not as though they were (Romans 14:17). If God has made you a promise, keep decreeing what you are believing God for until it manifests (Job 22:28). But whatever you do, DON’T GIVE UP NOW. Say to God what Jacob said to the angel he wrestled with, “I will not let You go unless You bless me”(Genesis 32:26)!
